OPEN BOARD MEMBER ROLES
Unity Housing (UH) is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our working Board of Directors and help end homelessness in Johnson City. This is an exceptional opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals, and requires a significant investment of your time and expertise. Board members are expected to be actively involved in the organization's strategic direction, fundraising efforts, and program development, with mandatory attendance at monthly board meetings and active participation in the majority of UH’s fundraising and educational events. We seek individuals with a deep commitment to reducing homelessness in the Johnson City community utilizing research-based interventions and contemporary social science, particularly those with experience in law, accounting, research, medicine (MD, RN, LPN, etc.), or grant writing. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of Robert's Rules of Order and experience participating in or leading a board of directors. By joining the Unity Housing's Board, you will directly impact lives, contribute to a comprehensive approach to addressing homelessness, collaborate with a dedicated team, and utilize your skills to strengthen our organization and community. COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Our vision is a community where homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring.
Unity Housing is seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Community Advisory Committee, an exciting opportunity to directly contribute to our mission and shape the future of housing and healthcare access in our community. We are looking for hands-on, hardworking, and creative individuals ready to make a real difference through active participation in the majority, if not all, of Unity Housing's grassroots organizing initiatives. Ideal candidates will be comfortable speaking on behalf of and promoting Unity Housing to the community, educating community members on the concept of Medical Respite, and fostering strong community relationships, as well as assisting in grassroots organizing, event logistics, and planning. While not mandatory, attending the majority of all board meetings is strongly encouraged to stay informed and provide valuable community insights. Ideal candidates will possess deep connections within the community, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a passion for housing advocacy and healthcare access, and a strong work ethic. INTERNSHIPS
Unity Housing Webpage Development Internship: Unity Housing is seeking a passionate and skilled Webpage Development Intern to help us enhance our online presence and better connect with the community. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to our mission and gain valuable real-world experience in website development for a growing non-profit organization. As a Webpage Development Intern, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining Unity Housing's website, working closely with our team to implement new features, improve user experience, and ensure our website effectively communicates our mission and impact. Responsibilities include assisting in the design and development of new web pages and features, maintaining and updating existing website content, troubleshooting and resolving website issues, implementing SEO best practices, and collaborating to align the website with our communications strategy. The ideal candidate will possess proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, experience with CMS, a strong understanding of web design principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for Unity Housing's mission. As a Social Media Intern, you will play a key role in developing and implementing our social media strategy, creating engaging content, managing our social media channels, and interacting with our online community. Responsibilities include creating content for various platforms, managing and scheduling posts, monitoring trends, responding to the online community, and analyzing metrics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of social media, excellent writing and visual storytelling skills, experience creating content, the ability to work independently and in a team, and a passion for Unity Housing's mission.
